Office

The office project has seemed to go on for months.  What started as a simple organization project turned into a major discovery and repair.  After the leak was fixed, we had to put everything back together.  I spent many late nights caulking and painting in order to finally have a little normality return.
I love the final look, and I am more than thrilled about all the storage.  We added an extra piece of trim to the wainscoting to make it more substantial.  All the trim, moulding, and cabinets got a fresh coat or two of paint.  The wood surfaces on both cabinets were replaced with a granite slab.  I also added the trellis print wallpaper to back of the shelves.  After simplifying the books and decorative objects, I was able to delete half the shelves I had originally.

What started it all - Elfa gliding baskets.  I am addicted, and I could have a problem.  I LOVE them.  I sorted all the office and craft supplies into baskets for me and the boys.  It is easy to find and grab coloring books, markers, paints, and more.  I originally thought I would just do 2 or 3, and I ended up with 7 baskets in the office.

Organizing the attic

It was time to get the lower attic together, and I had two awesome helpers.  Ryland was intrigued by the box of bobble heads we found. He pulled out every single one and lined them up, so we could talk about each one.  It was a great distraction, and I was able to get through several tubs uninterrupted.

Reed got bored with the attic, so he moved on to the toys.  I finished the attic and quickly realized I had a new mess to conquer.

Mr. Organization

The signs are obvious that Ryland is really into his cars and especially lining up his cars. In fact he will line up just about anything with wheels. I noticed the majority of the toys on the floor, so I glanced in the toy basket to see if it was empty. I found Ryland's cars lined up in the bottom of the basket. Notice how they are even in order of size. He is Mr. Organization.
On the other hand, Reed was loving the total mess outside the toy basket. He was right in the middle of the toy pile.

Organizing

I love to organize, and I have been on a total rampage of getting my house together this month. The previous owner of our house left tons of Elfa shelves, tracks, and all the installation pieces. I was shocked that she left these behind, but pleasantly surprised. I pulled all the pieces out of the attic to make an inventory list.
Both the boys were immediately more interested in what I was doing than any of their toys. They quickly made their way over to my piles of Elfa. Ryland had lots of questions, and he helped me count all the pieces. Reed crawled back and forth over the stacks of shelves.
It took a couple hours to complete the list, and I realized just how much Elfa I have. I can just about complete our walk-in pantry. It was ironic because in my quest to organize, I made a total mess, and my boys were more excited about the mess than anything else in the playroom.
