Build-O-Rama

The local libraries have so many summer activities to choose from, so we tried one of our favorites from last summer.  Do thousands of Legos in an empty room sound fun?  Yes!  Reed built and played with a two story house with a monkey tree on the roof.

Ryland played with some older children that were building vehicles and more complex items.

Ridley was happy to watch all the crazy children build and play.  As always she is laughing and in a great mood.

Slumber Forts

We turned the game room into a big slumber party room full of forts.  The boys were thrilled to use their imagination and the new modular fort kits that Santa brought.  It took every extra blanket and throw, but it was so much fun.  We played for hours, and the boys spent the night in their forts.

Tools

Aunt Emily and Uncle Jeffery gave the boys real  kid sized tools, complete with hard hats, safety classes, and tool belts.  They couldn't wait to try it all on with a few silly faces.

Later that evening, we pulled out the tools to make the ambulance kits that were part of the gift.  John Chris held the pieces in place, while the boys assembled with the new tools.  This was a wonderful way of improving hand eye coordination, even for John Chris.

Legos

I caught the sweetest moment between Ryland and Reed this afternoon.  Ryland was putting his new Legos together, and Reed was intently watching.  They were in a serious conversation about where the pieces go.  Ryland would ask for a specific piece, and Reed would hand him something.  It wasn't always the right piece, so there was a little giggling too.  I love watching them learn and play together.
