DYF Season Ends

The boys played their last football games of the season today.  It was beautiful outside, and we were super excited to experience Big Dragon Stadium in a new way.  Ryland's game was played on the high school field with an announcer.  It was awesome to hear him call Ryland's plays.  Way too cool!  Even though Reed didn't play at the stadium, he had a great season ending game with a touchdown.

Go Dragons!

Football

Ryland is loving football this year.  He is engaged and going for it every game.  Today, he was on fire.  He saved 4 touchdowns by running down the runner and taking them to the ground.  The boy can run, fast.  He loves his coaches and teammates and looks forward to going every week.  Several parents and the coaches made numerous comments today about how well he was playing.  My favorite part was when he helped pull the other team's players off his buddy after a tackle.  He then helped pull his man up.  It made my heart melt.  Some other moms saw this and commented on how sweet this was of him.  That's my sweetie, Ryland!

First Day of School

My boys are off to school!

Reed was so excited to start Kindergarten, and he couldn't wait to get to Old Union.

Ryland was a bit more reserved about getting a new school year started.  I think he knows it means early mornings are upon us.

Reed poses with Ms. Hill before he finds his seat to start the day.

He was all smiles as he dives into his new can of Play-Doh.  I love his enthusiasm!

Ryland takes a quick picture with Mrs. Astrin, and I can tell by his body language that he is nervous.

By the time he sits down at his new desk and finds his worksheet, Ryland has teared up and wants to go home.  I get it sweetie, but I promise you will be OK in an hour.  Hang in there my sensitive boy.

Dragon Baseball Camp

Dragon Baseball Camp is one of Ryland's favorite summer activities.  Reed was old enough to join him this year, and they both had a blast.  This was Coach Hughes' last year before full retirement, so I think he made it extra special.  They worked hard and played hard, but they both agreed that the slip' n slide is the best part.

Dragon Night at the Rangers Game

The Rangers were cheered on by lots of Dragon fans tonight.  It was Southlake Carroll ISD's night at the ballpark.  It was an awesome game, and we all had so much fun.  We stayed for the entire game and enjoyed the firework show afterwards.

Cutest Catcher

Reed played catcher today, and I just thought he was the cutest little thing.  Adorable!

Old Union Night

Each school in Carroll ISD has a special night at Dragon Baseball Stadium.  Tonight, it was all about Old Union.  The students that arrived before the game got to go out on the field to sing the National Anthem.  Reed was thrilled to be included, too.
We all had a great time cheering on the Dragons and eating lots of junk.  The children were bouncing off the walls, and eventually we told the pack to go down and run around the track beside the stadium.  They had a blast!

Meet the Teacher

Ryland is ready to start the new school year.  We had Meet the Teacher this morning, and he is very happy.  His buddies, Grant and Graham, are in his class, and he can't wait to hang out with them.

Ryland's first grade teacher is Mrs. Amy Evans.  She also happens to be our new neighbor, just a few doors down the street.  She seems like a perfect fit for his personality, and he is crushing on her already.

Dragon Baseball Camp

Even though school is on break, the big boys still play ball.  Ryland was excited for baseball camp, and he braved the freezing weather to participate.  He loves baseball!

Dragon Dash

Old Union makes fitness fun!  The annual school fundraiser had an awesome obstacle course to bring the week to an end.  All the participants had bright colored matching shirts and worked together in teams.  Ryland was so pumped!

Brown Bear came along for the fun, too.

The biggest shock to me was the hula hooping station.  I just knew this was going to be an epic fail.  Ryland was ridiculously good.  I have no idea where he picked up this skill, but he was the best hula hooper.

Ryland starts Kindergarten

It's official!  Ryland is a Kindergartener.  He was so excited to meet his classmates and check out the toys in his new classroom.

Our big boy about to go inside, but we had to have a quick picture of him with the Dragon.

Baseball Camp

The official Dragon sports are in full swing for Ryland.  He was able to attend Dragon baseball camp at the high school and was coached by the big boys' coach!  Awesome!  I have to admit that it was a little nerve racking the first day at drop off.  I left my little guy at the impressive indoor practice facility with a whole bunch of silly 5 year olds.  It was obvious that they were not feeling the pressure, as they were the only age group actually not sitting on their line.  Silly, sweet boys.

As we walked back to the truck after drop off, I snapped this quick picture of my smaller Dragon all decked out in his baseball gear.  It won't be long before he gets his turn, and he is ready!

Dragon in our house

I found this adorable felt dragon hat at Michaels. I knew that Ryland would just love it. He growls like a dragon when he puts it on his head. It is really funny how is imagination is starting to really take off. We take turns wearing the hat and chasing each other around the house. Of course we must growl like a dragon, or it just isn't fun.
