Happy 10 Years

John Chris and I have been married 10 years.  I spent the entire day and whole weekend in the bed with strep throat.  Not exactly what we had planned, but my sweet hubby brought me gorgeous roses.

Teacher Appreciation

We decided to continue a fun activity to celebrate our wonderful teachers. We picked out some beautiful flowers for Mrs. Evans.  I enjoyed "playing" with the fresh flowers, and I had great assistance.

Voila!  We are show offs!

Is this safe?

We spent the entire day in the yard cleaning and pruning.  Spring is here, and we love spending time outside.  The only problem is that we also like projects.  In order to give the front flower beds a new design, the hollies had to go.  They must be original plants in the flower beds, because they had a significant root system.
John Chris thought it would be a lot easier and faster to just pull them out with his truck.  He backed up and tied a strap around the holly and then stepped on the gas.  I couldn't help but grab the boys, take 10 large steps back, and close my eyes.

Flowers

After a very stressful week, the flower designing is in full swing.  The color scheme made a slight shift due to availability, but the white hydrangeas looked so much better than the green ones.  I set up a make shift studio in the garage with a few tables, and I turned on the tunes. Back in the zone.

Flowers

The sweet joy of wedding season. I had the pleasure of designing the wedding flowers for the sweetest bride, Abby. I first met her over a year and a half ago right after her engagement. June 11, 2011 seemed so far away, but it finally arrived.

The altar arrangement was a challenge. Since it was so large, I made it on site which is normal. The challenge was making this one from the back. The container sat on a small table right behind the altar. It was way too heavy to make and then move it into position. The bride and her family were pleased by the end product, and I can't wait to see the professional ceremony pictures.

I didn't make the cake, but I made it pretty.

Flower weekend for momma

It was that time of the year again. The Dallas bridal show kicks off my spring and summer wedding season, and I geared up for a busy time while carrying some extra baby weight. The show went very well, but it was difficult to stand for so long. I completely changed the set up for the show and introduced yellow as the accent color, and I had a great deal of positive feedback.
Now the work really begins....

Tulip

I brought home some beautiful tulips today. They were bright orange and yellow variegated. Absolutely gorgeous.
Ryland was pretty curious, so I gave him one stem. What do you think he did? Of course, he broke the bloom off the stem and disassembled it petal by petal.
I asked him what he was doing, and this is the look I got. It was so matter of fact. Duh, I am tearing it up.

But mom, it is so much prettier torn up on the floor. Can I have another one?

Chores & flowers do mix

Washing bottles and doing dishes are OK when beautiful fresh flowers are nearby. I absolutely love hydrangeas, garden roses, and Casablanca lillies. They smelled wonderful and lasted over a week and a half.

Mr. & Mrs. Anderson - It's Official!

John Chris and I traveled to Pensacola, FL for Emily and Jeffery's wedding. The beach was amazing, and it was almost empty this time of year. We stayed at The Beach Club, and it was gorgeous.
I was so excited to make Emily's bridal bouquet. It was very special honor for me, and she loved it.

John Chris took this sweet picture of his sister, Emily. He took it in black and white, and it turned out beautiful.

The wedding was at sunset on the beach. It was a romantic setting perfect for getting married.

The weather was great until our last day. A cold front came in, and we braved the freezing temperature for one last chance to be on the beach at sunset.

A great end to an awesome trip.

Flower Power for Sarah Palin

I was asked to help with the flowers for Palin's luncheon fundraiser in Dallas on Oct. 3rd. All the arrangements had a mini USA, Texas, or Alaska flag. Now I can say I have done flowers for the future vice-president. :)

DWeddings & Adolphus Haute Wedding Show

Caid Floral was invited to attend the 2008 Haute Wedding Show sponsored by DWeddings & the Adolphus. We were really excited and honored to be included in this awesome and elite group in Dallas. The show went extremely well, and I met some great brides and several talented vendors. This journey is so fun and exciting. I truly enjoy every bit of it!
