Bad Moms Movie

Hilarious movie!  It was a different night of movie fun for me.  Bad Moms was too funny and was interesting as I prepare for the upcoming year on PTO.  Fingers crossed the year is less entertaining.

First Grade Field Trip

I was lucky enough to be drawn for the class chaperone for Ryland's first grade field trip.  Each class could only bring two, so I was thrilled to be a part of this fun day.  We headed to Denton to visit the Elm Fork Education Center. It was a day full of activities and fun on UNT's campus. We learned about all sorts of animals, and it was a great opportunity to explore.  We had a blast!

Mornings with Mom

Ryland's school hosted a muffin breakfast early this morning to celebrate moms.  John Chris had to go to work, so I was lucky enough to enjoy the morning with all three of my little ones. It was pretty early, so I don't think we were all awake yet.

After a bit of food and the sunrise, everyone was back to their normal chipper selves.

Three Amigos

We were being silly this afternoon and taking pictures of each other.  This is our three amigos selfie.  It was pretty challenging to get us three in one picture, but we finally got it.

Night with the girls

My MOPS group had a fun night at Let's Makeup for a makeup demonstration and personal shopping. We watched a makeup application and were taught all about brushes, contouring, and colors. It was a clear reminder that me applying makeup in the truck on the way to something or somewhere needs to stop. I was inspired to pull out my makeup brushes and eyeliner.
After the makeup class, me and some of the girls went for drinks at Coal Vines. It was nice to sit and chat while enjoying a mimosa and decadent chocolate mousse. Amazing! I absolutely love this group of ladies!

Mom down

I give in! I have been fighting a terrible sinus infection, ear ache, and sore throat for days, and it has finally got the best of me. It is beautiful outside, and I want nothing more than to play with the boys. Instead, I find myself cuddled in the bed with tons tissues and meds on the night stand. I hate that I feel like this on the weekend, but I am happy that John Chris is home to take care of the boys.

Casa Manana's Rudolph

I took Ryland to his first play this morning. I was a little concerned that he wouldn't sit still and enjoy the play, but I went ahead and purchased tickets to Rudolph. When we arrived I immediately questioned my judgement in even attempting to attend a play. Really, Candice? Ryland in a theater, quiet in the dark, sitting in a chair, and for over an hour. What the heck was I thinking? He was all over the place. He refused to sit in his seat and wanted to climb around to play. The moment the lights went off and the characters came out, Ryland was very intrigued. He crawled in my lap and watched what was going on. He sat still and attentive for the entire play. I was completely shocked. He loved every moment, and it was one of my favorite and most treasured moments with him.

Fire station field trip

The mom's group had a field trip at the fire station today, and it was super cool. We were able to play on the trucks and hang out with the firemen. Ryland thought the big truck was interesting and liked to mess with all the gadgets.
I can only imagine how big the trucks look to a 1.5 year old. Ryland and Harker looked at the truck with pure amazement. Ahhh, to be a kid again.

Ryland wanted to hear the siren, and he did get his wish. After about 25 minutes, the station received a call about a fire alarm at a business. It was crazy to see all the moms grabbing their little ones, and the firemen loading in the truck so quickly. Off they went with the sirens blasting. The smile on Ryland's face was priceless. He screeched like a siren all the way home.

Well check

Ryland had his 18 month well check today with the pediatrician. When we pulled up to the office, he noticed the large blow up skull beside the building. He walking right over to it, pointing and talking. I would think that spiders crawling on a skull would be a little creepy for little kids, but maybe that is just me. ???? Anyway, I must be wrong because Ryland had no problem with it.

Everything went well with the check up, and Ryland is a normal healthy little boy. He weighs 27.5 lbs and 33" tall. He has slowed down in growth and is getting closer to normal range. He is now in the 65%. The doctor suggests not to even attempt at potty training right now, because he will just regress when the baby comes. She said I would end up having to do it twice, so she wouldn't bother right now. Still she thinks talking about it is very helpful. I decided to go ahead and get a flu shot for Ryland, and I had to sign a waiver. He thought he would serve as my legal counsel and make a few adjustments to the document. Such a big boy.

Outdoor concert

We went to an outdoor concert in Southlake Town Square this evening, and it was nice to get out of the house and enjoy some fresh air. Ryland and Harker thought the blankets were fun for about 5 minutes, and then it was time to run around.
Ryland was a dancing machine. He wanted to run and dance.
Ryland kept running to the front of the crowd. Right in front of the stage there were about 150 chairs set up, and that is where he wanted to be. In the mosh pit.
Don't hold me back dad. I am ready to dance.
After running and dancing in the heat for hours, Ryland is finally starting to run out of energy. I am completely done at this point. Worn out! We had a great time, and Ryland slept like a baby.

Tulip

I brought home some beautiful tulips today. They were bright orange and yellow variegated. Absolutely gorgeous.
Ryland was pretty curious, so I gave him one stem. What do you think he did? Of course, he broke the bloom off the stem and disassembled it petal by petal.
I asked him what he was doing, and this is the look I got. It was so matter of fact. Duh, I am tearing it up.

But mom, it is so much prettier torn up on the floor. Can I have another one?

First Rangers game

John Chris and I took Ryland to his first Rangers came tonight. We had great seats behind home plate and the weather was perfect. He was in a silly mood for not having an afternoon nap.
He got so excited that people were yelling, so he decided to yell too.
Awesome seats.
This game was a real lid biter. Not really. The Rangers won 10 to 1. We weren't able to stay for the whole game. When the people who had seats in front of us showed up, Ryland wanted to keep touching their backs and flirting with their girlfriends. After he dumped a whole can of crunchies, it was time to head home.

Happy Mother's Day

We started Mother's Day at my brother's with my mom. We had a great visit, took a few pictures, and exchanged cards and gifts. We always buy my mom a rose bush every year, and this year was no different. Of course she loved them and just about started crying.
We packed up and headed back home for the evening. John Chris, Ryland, and myself enjoyed a take out sushi dinner. It was exactly what I was craving, and we knew better than trying to take a cranky child to the restaurant. It was perfect. The boys gave me the sweetest cards and a new Tiffany charm for my bracelet.
I absolutely love being a mom. It has brought huge challenges, increased patience, less sleep, and more stress. It also has been wonderful hugs and kisses, silly smiles and laughter, and a warm feeling in my heart. I just can't imagine my life before, and I don't want to. I am enjoying every precious moment.

4th annual crawfish boil

Clint and Kristi held their annual crawfish boil this weekend, so we all headed to Texarkana. We were loaded down and looked like gypsies in John Chris's truck. Brad and Chanda came with us this year to share in the fun.
Ryland loves sugar cookies. We gave him half of one, and he indulged.

Ahhhh! A cold drink in a floozy coozy washes it down just right.
We picked up a golf caddy set at Walmart while out getting some last minute supplies. Ryland loved it!

We also found this SpongeBob hat to keep Ryland's head covered. To our surprise he actually wore it.
Thanks Aunt Chanda!

Nanna tried to take away the water hose. Bad idea!
Full meltdown starts.
This is a new expression. When Ryland gets upset and is just devastated, he puts his hand over his mouth. I think it is too cute.
The fit must have worked, because Ryland has the water hose back in no time.
Nice mohawk! This is what happens when you put sunscreen all over. Ryland's hair was able to stand straight up.
Grandpa David, Uncle Brad, and John Chris.
I have no idea what John Chris is doing. Ballet? Or just trying to stay standing up?

Trip to the Arboretum

We made a trip to the Arboretum today to play outside before it gets really hot. They were having a Peter Rabbit themed exhibit, and Peter rabbit himself was there to greet the kiddos. Ryland was very leery at first, but he quickly came around. He was giving Peter Rabbit five and would not stop walking over to him.
Ryland checks out one of the flower pot houses.

After a picnic lunch, we headed over the a little animal petting zoo. Of course Ryland went crazy. He was petting and trying to stick his finger up this guy's nose.
Here comes trouble animals! These 3 are crazy. Ryland, Harker, and Jackson decided to try and free the animals by yanking on the fence.
Ryland and Harker have made a new friend. This little goat was a little aggressive with the others. I saw him try to head butt the other goats. He was as sweet as could be with the kids. Maybe he knew they would head butt him back if he tried anything crazy.
OK, enough. We have to go finish looking around.
At this point Ryland has decided he is done riding in the stroller. He is fussy, and I can tell he has a fever.
Sweet boy checking out the water fall wall. Mesmerized.

Jackson and Ryland are scheming on how to get in the water.
We had a great time playing and exploring the Arboretum. It is getting a little hot out to stay very long, but we will definitely go back.
