Snow Day

The weather forecasts have been all over the place.  One minute we are going to get snow, and the next minute we will miss it.  We ended up being right on the line of the front, so we enjoyed a nice dry dusting of beautiful snow.  It barely covered the coping around the pool and lightly covered the flower beds.  It was so peaceful watching it fall.

Ridley enjoyed the snow fall while waiting on her brothers to get home.  She sat in her chair patiently waiting and playing on her tablet.

Friday night fun called for a family room pallet and a movie.  My sweet babies are getting so big.  We had a fantastic Friday.

Christmas Eve

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is going to Christmas Eve service.  It is a magical moment that gets me every time.  I love to hear the story of Jesus' birth, and I am always wiping my tears before it is over.

At the end of the service, it started snowing in the sanctuary.  The boys loved it!

Ridley, not so much!

Before we could call it a night, the children sprinkled the reindeer food on the front grass, and we put out treats for Santa.

Snow Again

We all woke to beautiful fluffy snow!  It was warm enough to play and enjoy it, so we all headed out.  Ridley loved the snow, and she was so excited when the snowsuit came out again.

Ridley loved sledding down the hill.

The highlight of playing in the snow was definitely the four-wheeler sledding.  All three of the boys had so much fun.  It some fine redneck engineering.

The Allison and Bunch kiddos.

Cooper even loves the snow.

Ryland got brave and thought snowboarding on a sled was a great idea.

Reed was more of a tuber.

Snow?

The snow is starting to fall, so we ran out to pick up a few last minute items we might need.

I love Reed's gaze out the window at the snow falling.  The magic of a potential inconvenience to a three year old.

Sledding

Another day of ice and a little bit warmer temperature made today the perfect time to do some major sledding and snow ball fighting.  We all headed to the popular hill in the neighborhood to enjoy the winter fun.  Once again we had a blast enjoying the outdoors.

Ice/Snow Day

We knew the winter weather was coming, but we could not prepare ourselves for the excitement of actually seeing the yard covered in ice and snow.  This was the first time Reed was actually interested and old enough to know what was going on.  He beamed with excitement from the minute he peeped out the window.

Ryland was ready to go out in it before breakfast or changing into clothes.

After bundling up in all the warm winter clothes we had, we headed outside to do a little sledding.  John Chris immediately had an awesome idea of pulling the boys on the sleds behind the four wheeler.  Both boys loved it!

After playing out in the freezing cold for a while, we came inside to warm up and do some crafting.  We decided it was the perfect day to paint some wooden boats.

It was time for another round of outdoor fun, but Reed was more interested in cuddling with me on the sofa by the fire.  It wasn't difficult to twist my arm, and I was happy to stay inside with my cuddle bug.
It was such a great day of fun times full of laughter and sweet moments.

White Christmas

What a great surprise! The snow started falling early afternoon, so when the boys woke up from their nap, they were shocked to look outside.  From the moment they saw the snow, they wanted out!

Since it had rained all night and morning, the ground was saturated.  It didn't take long for the boys to be completely soaked.  It was beautiful and such a nice way to celebrate Jesus' birthday!

More snow

A few shots of the backyard early this morning. We are predicted to receive another 4-6 inches today. It is very cold out, and I feel so bad for Cooper when he has to go outside. The hot tub has a layer of ice across the top, and it is our new challenge. We are trying to keep the water moving, but it has become nearly impossible.

Sledding

Ice and light snow covered the Dallas Ft. Worth area today with wind gusts of 50mph. The temperature stayed in the low teens with wind chills below 0. Local schools were closed, and the kids had a chance to take a break from school and enjoy the slippery situation.
John Chris stayed home and had a bit of cabin fever, so we drove around the neighborhood. (Something about a vehicle with 4 wheel drive makes guys feel like they can conquer the world.) As we made the block, we spotted a bunch of kids sliding down a hill. John Chris wanted to join in the fun, so we headed home to prepare ourselves.
He thought the wheel barrow bucket would make a great sled, so he unbolted the bucket from the frame. I dressed Ryland in the warmest things I could find, and we headed out to have some fun.

All smiles and giggles, as the boys slide down the hill in the bucket. Even though is was freezing out, I am so glad we took the chance to get out of the house and play. After a handful of slides down the hill, we decided we were frozen.

We jumped back in the truck where it was warm and toasty to head home for hot chocolate.

Snow day

The snow came down all day, and it was so beautiful. The ground was too warm, so it never accumulated. We couldn't go outside and play in it, but we did go out for a bit to talk about snow flakes with Ryland. Even though there wasn't enough to play in, it was nice to stay indoors with warm food and a cozy fire.

Snow

We got snow today, and it was beautiful! We had been watching the local weather, and they said to prepare for 1-2 inches of frozen precipitation. Well, we got a little more than that. It snowed all day. I tried turning on the tv to watch more news, but we could not even pick up satelitte signal.

Ryland and Cooper enjoyed looking out the windows at all the white stuff.

It is hard to believe that this is the second round of snow we have seen this year in Texas. The weather is insane. One day it is 65 degrees, and the next day it is literally freezing.
Of course we had to get out in the snow. Ever since I got a 4 wheel drive SUV, I think I can handle snow, flood, mountains, and maybe mud. I snapped a quick picture as soon as I pulled out of our neighborhood.
So pretty and peaceful!

Snow

It is snowing! It is really snowing!
I just heard on the news that this is the first white Christmas Eve in 80 years in the Dallas - Ft. Worth area.
It is absolutely beautiful!
We had about 2 inches on the back patio at this point. The ground was still a little warm, so the brick hasn't frozen yet. The roads are still drivable, but it doesn't look like it is letting up.
