Tools

Aunt Emily and Uncle Jeffery gave the boys real  kid sized tools, complete with hard hats, safety classes, and tool belts.  They couldn't wait to try it all on with a few silly faces.

Later that evening, we pulled out the tools to make the ambulance kits that were part of the gift.  John Chris held the pieces in place, while the boys assembled with the new tools.  This was a wonderful way of improving hand eye coordination, even for John Chris.

Handy Reed

Paradise Pond is a wonderful, entertaining, indoor playground.  The boys were thrilled that they were invited to a birthday party, and I heard the whole week about how they could not wait to go to Paradise Pond.  So why is it that I couldn't find Reed playing in the bounce house, superhero dress up, dinosaur area, jungle gym, or even playing with the thousands of cars and race tracks?  I found him "working" on the wall on the far side of the building.  Oh my, what have we done to our children?  Maybe we have done too many projects around the house.

Trying to escape

Reed has had enough with the lock on the back door.  The combination lock keeps him trapped in the house and safely out of the pool.  He had a great plan, so he pulled up the step stool and grabbed a screwdriver.  He was going to escape, or so he thought.  John Chris and I watched and laughed, but we were impressed by his ingenuity.  I wonder how he got so darn handy.

Daddy's tools

I realize my boys are way more interested in Daddy's tools than Mommy's craft supplies, but come on. Reed is totally blown away by the air compressor. I am really surprised, because it is loud, but he loves it. Even when it is off, Reed is drawn to it like a magnet.
I guess I could always contract them out. Hey, I might have the supplies to make a great sign.

Goggles

Ryland has been talking about goggles lately. Every time we get in the pool, he says he needs goggles because the water burns his eyes. While we were at Walmart I found some children's goggles and purchased them for him. He was all about putting them on inside.
He was pretty bummed when we told him it wasn't time to go swimming. The tears started filling his new goggles. Life is so terrible!

John Chris put on the extra pair that came in the package. Ryland thought this was amusing and wanted to get right up close to his daddy.

The goofy goggle boys.

Notice Ryland's clothes? We had been drawing with markers and having fun. The mess quickly got away from us.

I had slipped out of sight in an attempt to put Reed down for a nap, but the goggles helped Ryland find me. You can't hide, mommy!

Before I knew it, Ryland had found the paint sprayer attachment. He thought it was so cool and wanted to show me. It was really cool until he dropped it and the valve broke off.

Oooops. Should have put your toys up when you were finished playing, daddy.
