Girl Time

Ridley and I spent some time at the salon today getting my hair highlighted and cut.  She was a happy girl and enjoyed checking everything out in the new place.  I am loving this girl time!

Big boy

After the boys trimmed each other's hair, we had to clean up the hairdos.  I carried both boys to our normal salon, and they tried to fix a bit of the damage.  It helped, but Ryland's hair was still crazy messed up.
Nana and Papaw came out to visit this weekend, and Ryland asked Nana to fix his hair.  She trimmed a bit more off the top and sides.  I put some gel in it, and at his request, I spiked it up.  He loves it and is obsessed with hair gel.
My baby boy has grown up. All the long blonde hair is gone.

Bows

Ridley wore a cute little flower headband today, and Reed took it upon himself to make sure the headband was in its perfect place.  All day he positioned and re-positioned the salmon colored flower.  Even as the day was wrapping up after Reed's bath, I caught him adjusting it one more time.

Self photos

I told the boys their hair was getting crazy long, and I started playing with it to be silly.  They wanted to see what it looked like, so we started taking pictures.  Ryland styled his hair and took his own picture.  The one below was with his funny smirk.

Reed joined the fun and took a sad face picture with his hair all brushed to his face.
These two are way shaggy. Time for a trim.

"Mom gear"

I laid down on the floor beside Reed while John Chris browsed the shower pictures on the camera. Ryland loves the camera, so he wanted to look as well. He was quick to take a fast picture and this is the shot he captured. My sweet Reed has a hand full of my hair and not letting go. I quickly remember why my hair is always pulled back. Well, it was nice to dress up and visit with the girls, but now it is time to get back in "mom gear".

Ryland's first haircut

Ryland's hair has gotten out of control! John Chris and I have been talking about when we were going to have Ryland's first hair cut, and we decided that today would be the day. We wanted to just shape up his shaggy mess.
John Chris is explaining how the haircut won't hurt and how much better he will look. They look so deep in conversation. Do you think Ryland is buying it?

The minute he sat in the firetruck chair he started fussing, and all hell broke loose the minute the cape went around Ryland's neck. The lady said that this was a normal reaction for first haircuts. The fit got pretty ridiculous and the drooling started. We tried candy and his blanket to calm him, but neither worked.

WOW! What a cute little boy! He is all smiles now that the scissors and the cape are gone. He still looks like himself, and we are all pleased.

Long hair

Ryland's hair is getting really long. We haven't taken him for a hair cut yet, and I just can't quite bring myself to it. He has the cutest curls in the back that I just love. I have been thinking about trimming the sides, but I am afraid it will look like a mullet. People have been commenting on what a cute little girl he is. I clearly don't dress him like a girl, so I know it is the hair. Oh me, I think this is a mommy letting go issue.

Cooper gets a haircut

My poor Cooper is so embarrassed of his new haircut. After a long weekend in the country playing with Doodle and Whoody, Cooper's hair was so tangled and matted. I hated to do it to him, but it had to go. It took the groomer about 4.5 hours to finish Cooper get him presentable again. When I picked him up, he looked like a completely different dog. I know he has to feel so much better and cooler. It is pretty funny how I can tell he is embarrassed. He loves to look at himself in the floor mirror, but since this haircut he is not interested in his reflection. Poor dog!

What is this brown fuzzy thing?

Cooper has turned into a shag dog. I can barely find his eyes. He has been sleeping on the travertine floor in our master bathroom because it is cool. Don't worry Cooper. You have a hair appointment coming soon.
What a hairball!

4th annual crawfish boil

Clint and Kristi held their annual crawfish boil this weekend, so we all headed to Texarkana. We were loaded down and looked like gypsies in John Chris's truck. Brad and Chanda came with us this year to share in the fun.
Ryland loves sugar cookies. We gave him half of one, and he indulged.

Ahhhh! A cold drink in a floozy coozy washes it down just right.
We picked up a golf caddy set at Walmart while out getting some last minute supplies. Ryland loved it!

We also found this SpongeBob hat to keep Ryland's head covered. To our surprise he actually wore it.
Thanks Aunt Chanda!

Nanna tried to take away the water hose. Bad idea!
Full meltdown starts.
This is a new expression. When Ryland gets upset and is just devastated, he puts his hand over his mouth. I think it is too cute.
The fit must have worked, because Ryland has the water hose back in no time.
Nice mohawk! This is what happens when you put sunscreen all over. Ryland's hair was able to stand straight up.
Grandpa David, Uncle Brad, and John Chris.
I have no idea what John Chris is doing. Ballet? Or just trying to stay standing up?

Beauty shop fun

It was time for my highlight touch up, and Ryland could not wait to go with me. Sheree, my hairdresser, and all the ladies have a fit over Ryland, and he just eats it up. He is getting more and more curious these days, and now he is reaching for everything including the foil pieces. We had a fun time, and the roots look so much better!
