Active Sports Camp

Another year of fun at Active Sports Camp for the boys.  This is one of their favorite summer traditions, and they always ask to go.  Worship and lots of sports!  Perfection!

UA Football

And just like that, football starts.  There are lots of mixed feelings about this sport and the competitive spirit that is all around us in Southlake.  We are hoping this will be a fun opportunity for Ryland to learn about the sport and have a great time.

Ryland's first game was on a dreary day that quickly turned wet and muddy, which he loved.  Any excuse to get dirty is an awesome opportunity for Ry.  The game was a total mush of kids running all over the place and missing catch after catch.  It was much like herding cats.

Mini Kickers

Reed kicked off a new sport today that he has been begging to try.  He will play soccer for the next couple of weeks.  We really love the Parks and Rec department and their sports camps.

Mini Dribblers

For the past two years Reed has been sitting in the stands with me while we cheer for Ryland.  We have gone through seasons of blastball, soccer, and football.  Today, he was finally the player, as Ryland watched.  Reed started basketball camp, and he was so very excited.  

Since basketball is something none of us have played before, we are all learning a ton.  Reed was very engaged and soaked up every new skill they taught.  He loves dribbling the ball and putting his "hand in the cookie jar".

Ridley was our cheerleader, but she really just wanted on the court with her brother and a ball.  It is going to be a full time job to keep her on the sidelines. 

WCUMC Sports Day & Super Scientist

Reed had an awesome day at preschool.  It was sports day, so he played a little of every sport with his class.  I volunteered in the tee ball area, and I was excited for his class to rotate in to play.  He had so much fun.

Reed came home with the Super Scientist award.  When I asked him what he had done to get the award, he informed me that it was his turn. 

Mini Huddler Skills Showcase

Ryland has really enjoyed the Mini Huddle camp.  He has learned some technical football skills, and he shows interest in playing.  In fact, we noticed how engaged and competitive Ryland has become. The final day was a skills showcase, and Ryland really shined.  He was picked to be the last kiddo to run the drill.  He nailed it!  He knew all the parts and did a fantastic job.

Ryland likes to be in the action, and Reed is running to occupy his time.  He will be so happy when he is 4.  He will finally be able to participate in the camps.

More blastball

This is the last Saturday of Blastball games.  It is pretty sad, because Ryland absolutely loves it.  I am amazed at how much he changed in just the 8 weeks.  At the first team meeting, he wouldn't even participate.  He cried and threw a fit, and John Chris and I wondered if he was ready for team sports.  Here we are at the last game, and he is having a blast and being his silly self!
