Getting flowers

Nanna and Grandpa Jim are really excited about the new baby we are expecting. They surprised us with a floral bouquet and an adorable lion. I never get flowers, so I was shocked. We tried explaining to Ryland what the gift was for, but he now thinks the lion's name is Baby. He knows the sign for baby, so all we have to do is say baby and he starts rocking his arms and starts pointing at the lion.
Thanks!

Grandpa Jim leaves for Afghanistan

Grandpa Jim leaves for Afghanistan today, and we will miss him very much. We were so happy to spend some time with him this weekend before he leaves for 6 months. We will keep him in our prayers and wish for a safe return.

Valentine package from Nanna & Grandpa Jim

When we arrived home today, there was a package that had been delivered. We plopped down in the kitchen floor to see what goodies were inside. Nanna and Grandpa Jim sent an adorable card to Ryland that had crazy eyes, and he loved it! He then dug into the box with Cooper's help.

Yes, a Spongebob Squarepants DVD! Just what he wanted. Ryland is a huge fan of the opening theme song. When he hears it, he starts dancing and smiling.

He pulled everything out of the box and threw it all on the floor.

He played with the heart shaped baking cups for a while. He would stack them and then take them apart. He even tried chewing on them. I promised him that we would make cupcakes with them before Valentine's Day.
Wow, that was fun. Thanks Nanna and Grandpa Jim! Ya'll are too sweet.

Christmas evening in Texarkana

We loaded everything up and hit the road for Christmas in Texarkana with my family. We always start off the celebration with a Chinese gift exchange. John Chris was lucky to receive a Christmas apron and exfoliating shower cloves. Just what he wanted!

Aunt Kristi and Uncle Clint take turns opening their gifts.
Ryland had a huge stack of presents. He was very happy to get a new Spongebob Squarepants.
Nana opened her special gift from Ryland. He gave her a gold pendant with a R and an aquamarine which is his birthstone.
A very happy little boy. He is loving every moment of the chaos.
Uncle Clint and Aunt Kristi gave Ryland a bunch of fun toys. He can't wait to get his hands on those huge building blocks.
Big Green Egg tools. John Chris was in need of some grill tools, and he hit the jackpot.
Surprise! Nana had no idea what we had bought her, and she was so pleased. She had mentioned that she would love to have new wood blinds, and we were excited to make her happy. Enjoy!

Downtown photos

We recently had professional family pictures taken, but we were missing Cooper. Our photo Christmas card needed a photo of us all, so we made a trip downtown to take a couple shots. We took several pictures very quickly because it was cold and windy. We found an old church that made for a perfect backdrop. Not bad photography for amatuers.

Family weekend fun

Nanna and Grandpa Jim came to visit for the weekend. They went to a Cowboys preseason game at the new Cowboys stadium. We had a great visit and enjoyed catching up. Nanna brought all kinds of new clothes and toys for Ryland. He now has new pajamas, school clothes, and other fun things.
Ryland got a new Maclaren stroller this weekend. It is super cool and lightweight. We plan on cruising in it on short quick trips.

Ryland, Nanna, and I spent Saturday shopping around town. Every time she comes to town we go to Garden Ridge. Ryland didn't seem to mind, because he had Spongebob Squarepants. Nanna brought him 2 stuffed Spongebobs. He loves them!
