Looking for a little shade

It is hot!  The boys love to go outside and play, but I have had to limit the times they can play due to the high temps.  I noticed last week that Ryland was getting a lot of direct afternoon sun while he played in his sandbox.  I decided to pick up some outdoor fabric and tension rods to make some panel curtains.
The boys were very interested in what I was making and were in the middle of the project.  Ryland had lots of questions about all the tools, and he really wanted to use the sewing machine.  After explaining the cuts, creases, and stitches, we installed them on the playhouse.
Both boys climbed in the sandbox to enjoy the shaded play area.  We were also pretty excited when we noticed the new pergola created enough shade to reach to their swings!  Double bonus for finding shade in the heat!

Assembling the play set

The play set that Gran Pop bought Ryland for Christmas came in this week, and we were thrilled to see that the weather was going to be beautiful this weekend. John Chris and Uncle Brad took advantage of the 75 degree day and worked on the assembly. Lizzie came to town to help out, and Ryland had a blast visiting and helping.

Are we done yet?
Taking a break to enjoy a yogurt snack.

Aunt Chanda was told to climb on up to check out the view from Ryland's penthouse. He is so excited, and I look forward to spring so we can really enjoy playing outside.
