Boat Race

We had an absolute treat today.  We had a front row seat to the 5th annual Solaire Cup Boat Race.  We lounged on the shore of Meads Bay while all the sail boats arrived to prep for the race.

Eleven boats lined up down the beach at their assigned spots. Ryland and Reed walked down to take a look at all the contenders and laugh at the silly boat names.  They played with local children that came over with their families for the day long event.  There were several food vendors set up with live music on the center stage.  It was a great big party!

Sonic was the winning crew, and we were seated at their post.  Super cool to cheer them on at the end of the race, and to watch the interaction with the losing teams.  There was a good bit of trash talking.

What a beautiful view this evening - a rare clear sunset as the boats sail away.

Racing at play group

We had a great morning racing with our play group friends.  We all met at an indoor racetrack with battery operated vehicles.  The children weren't always the best drivers, but they had a blast.  Ryland cruised around in Lighting McQueen chasing his friends.

Reed didn't have any luck getting a car, so we played and snacked.  He was a trooper, but he wasn't interested in just riding.  If he couldn't drive, he wasn't going to participate.  He did like wearing a helmet and screaming "GO" at the fence.

White Rock Marathon

John Chris was part of the relay team at his office to run the White Rock Marathon. They did an awesome job and they all finished their portions. I am amazed that John Chris did so well. He woke up feeling terrible and still made it to the race. I know he wanted to just crawl back in bed, but he didn't.
Ryland and I were waiting at the finish line to see daddy finish, but Ryland decided to get a bit fussy about being in the stroller. John Chris finished while Ryland was in all out fit mode. I snapped the photo about 3 minutes after he crossed the finish line.

Happy Ryland. He hates to be confined in the stroller and was completely happy as soon as his feet were on the ground.
Ryland and I enjoyed some live music by the fountains while we waited for John Chris. Ryland kept inching closer and closer to the water. He is such a mess and loves to be outdoors.
