LA Fishing

We spent the afternoon fishing at a family friends' pond.  The children loved it, because the fish were biting like crazy.  It seemed like every time they casted, a fish was on the line immediately.  This wasn't fishing.  It was catching.  All three kids loved it!

Watching Planes

Another Summer bucket list item was checked off this afternoon.  We had a picnic at Founders Plaza and watched the planes land and take off at DFW Airport.

Naps

It is a rare moment to catch Ridley napping.  She is full of energy and not going to miss a minute of the fun with her brothers.  I convinced her to rest in my bed and watch some cartoons.  She quickly fell fast asleep.

Movie

We headed to the super plush Cinemark theater for a cool afternoon of movie watching.  We watched the Secret Life of Pets, and it was too cute.  Everyone sat through the entire movie and enjoyed the show.

Legos

Ryland and Reed asked about Lego Mania, which is hosted by the Colleyville Library every summer.  We just happened to catch the last one of the summer.  I loved watching the boys work with new friends to create this blue tower.  Nice patterns and height.

Ridley made a new friend playing with the animal Legos.  She loved it but tried to act like she was cool when I pulled out the camera.

Paper Airplanes

Our local library has the best summer program for children.  This afternoon we met on the third floor of Town Hall and learned to make different types of paper airplanes.  The best part was launching them from the third floor balcony to the targets below.  So much fun!

Princess Ballet Camp

It was finally Ridley's turn for summer camp.  She had a blast at Princess Ballet Camp dressed as Elsa from Frozen.  She is all girl and loved every minute.

Dragon Baseball Camp

Dragon Baseball Camp is one of Ryland's favorite summer activities.  Reed was old enough to join him this year, and they both had a blast.  This was Coach Hughes' last year before full retirement, so I think he made it extra special.  They worked hard and played hard, but they both agreed that the slip' n slide is the best part.

Come on Summer

It is beginning to look a bit like summer.
The boys had a friend over, and we cooked out before jumping in the pool.  We are really looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the backyard.

Thursday Fun

Since I still look a little beat up, we have been spending the week at home.  Today I thought I would treat my children to a little surprise.  We picked up lunch at Chick-fil-A, and I took them to a new picnic spot.  At the north entry of DFW Airport, there is a small park that provides an excellent view of incoming planes called Founders Plaza.
The park has covered picnic tables and a few plaques and statues.  The coolest feature is the speaker from the tower.  We listened to the planes being called in by air traffic control, and it was awesome.  As we were getting ready to leave, the boys wanted to watch one more plane come in, and I was happy to agree.

Another favorite activity this week is Nabi time.  When Ridley sleeps, the boys play quietly on their Nabis behind the sofa in the game room.  I am not sure why they pick that spot, but it must be comfy.

Pool Remodel

This is the amazing demolition that took place in only 4 short hours.  I was amazed to return home to removed tile and coping, but even more excited that there was no mess to clean.

Drain the Pool

It is time to get started on the pool remodel.  It was a pleasant surprise to see the crew show up a week earlier than expected.  Happy Day!

Summer Checklist 2014

It was the last evening of our summer, so we double checked our summer checklist.  We made this list at the beginning of our summer of all the things we wanted to do. We have had a wonderful summer, and we checked everything off!

Anguilla

We made it to Anguilla, and it is as beautiful as ever.  The beach is gorgeous with cool, refreshing water.  We enjoyed relaxing, playing in the sand, drinking fresh coconut milk, and making family memories.  We all love it here!

Baseball Buddies

Daddy and Ridley had a great night at the RoughRiders game in Frisco.  The atmosphere was very kid friendly and had a great firework show at the end. I don't know the score of the game or what a RoughRider is, but who cares.  It was fun!

Reptiles

I am not a fan of snakes and lizards, but the boys were so thrilled to see the Snake Guy.  Once again, he put on a great show and had lots of creepy visitors.  The newest addition to the collection was a Komodo Dragon.  After the presentation, we waited in line to "pet" the animals.  Ryland was so excited.

Reed was not.

The Burmese python in the plastic box made Ryland consider for half a second, but then he reached right in to touch the massive snake.  Reed did not, and I now think Reed has more common sense than I originally thought.  Reed and I are happy it will be a year before we see these creatures again.  Yuck!!!

Build-O-Rama Round 2

It's Wednesday, and it is time to build.  Today, Ryland and Reed built houses.  They decided to connect them with a tree bridge, so they could visit one another.  I asked if they were planning on living like this when they grew up, and Ryland informed me that they were planning on living with me.
Reed was a typical camera hog, and he wanted to pose for multiple pictures.  He cracks me up, because he will pose and then want to look at the pictures of himself.

Stage Fighting

Another hot Texas afternoon spent at the library learning about new things.  Today's presentation was on stage fighting.  Two professional "pirates" taught us how sword fighting in movies and plays is actually fake.  The kids were blown away at all the tricks they learned, and Ryland and Reed were begging for swords.
The boys pose with the fighting pirate.  Reed is still a little unsure of this stranger.
They must have really enjoyed our fun day, because they both fell asleep hours before bedtime.  I love summer!

Build-O-Rama

The local libraries have so many summer activities to choose from, so we tried one of our favorites from last summer.  Do thousands of Legos in an empty room sound fun?  Yes!  Reed built and played with a two story house with a monkey tree on the roof.
Ryland played with some older children that were building vehicles and more complex items.
Ridley was happy to watch all the crazy children build and play.  As always she is laughing and in a great mood.
