Afternoon with my Sweet Littles

I spent the afternoon with my sweet littles, and I enjoyed laughing and being silly with them.  We started with a slightly earlier release from school, so we were able to check out the new Trolls movie.  Reed did great and can totally sit through a movie.  Ridley didn't do as well.  Now that she is potty trained, we made three bathroom trips, which kind of chopped up our movie.  All in all, Trolls was a cute movie with a sweet message.

Reed and Ridley are very close, and I melt when I see little moments like this.  He held her hand and helped her all the way down the steps.  Very sweet.

We headed over for ice cream at Cheesecake Factory and then made a stop at Kendra Scott for a little OUES fundraising benefit shopping.  After running into friends, a bit of playing at the fountain was necessary before heading home for some mac'n cheese.  Such a great afternoon!

Bad Moms Movie

Hilarious movie!  It was a different night of movie fun for me.  Bad Moms was too funny and was interesting as I prepare for the upcoming year on PTO.  Fingers crossed the year is less entertaining.

Movie

We headed to the super plush Cinemark theater for a cool afternoon of movie watching.  We watched the Secret Life of Pets, and it was too cute.  Everyone sat through the entire movie and enjoyed the show.

To the movies

Chanda and I took the boys to enjoy The Good Dinosaur and check out the awesome new theater.  The boys loved the cushy recliners and snack packs.  They have no idea how incredibly fortunate they are.  I remember growing up with a lice infested theater, so everyone made the 30 minute drive to the mall to catch a movie. Living the good life!

Movie time

We all headed to Harkins to enjoy one of out favorite movies, Despicable Me 2.  Ridley was absolutely into the experience, and she really enjoyed her first movie.

When we came out of the movie, we were excited to see Minions.  What a great surprise! We didn't get an autograph, but we did get a quick picture.

Twilight

This evening went crazy and my plans were completely altered, and I ended up in Colleyville at the Twilight premier.  I am not a fan, and I had never seen or read any of the previous movies/books; however, my friend is a huge fan.  Huge!  After getting stuck in ridiculous traffic, we headed to a sushi bar and then walked over to the theater.  Somehow we were able to get a seat after running into a friend. We enjoyed the movie with a group of crazy women that we didn't know, and by the end of the movie, they wanted the entire theater to take a photo.
I still don't get the whole vampire thing, but the movie was tolerable with a few drinks.

Movie date

Since we have summer movie tickets at Harkins, I thought a movie would be fun for just Ryland and myself.  The previous week didn't go so well for us three, but I wanted to try again. The movie was Horton Hears a Who, and I thought the meaning would be great for Ryland as well.  I lined up Reed with a sitter, and Ryland and I headed to our "date".  I was ready with a purse full of treats - popcorn, capri sun, etc.
I enjoyed watching the movie, but I constantly had to tell Ryland to sit down or stop climbing on the rail.  By the end of the movie, I was on my hands and knees searching for my R locket off my charm bracelet that Ryland removed.  With tears in my eyes and everyone exiting the theater, I really thought I was going to just burst.  I was able to find one locket, but the other was not to be found.  :(

At the movies

I thought we would give the movies another try. The local theater was showing Shrek this week, so we headed out for some popcorn and fun. We bought some snacks and found the perfect seats. Reed went to sleep in about 30 minutes, and Ryland was really into the movie. Right as the ogres were about to start their revolution, Ryland stood up and informed me that he was ready to go home. I asked him about 10 times as we gathered our things if he was sure he wanted to leave. He continued to tell me he was ready to go home. As we walked out of the theater to our truck, Ryland said "no mommy, shrek". He had decided to stay. Oh geeze! Why do I even try? Needless to say, we headed home.

Boys' first movie

The local movie theater has a summer movie program for kiddos. It is one movie per week for ten weeks for $5. I have been talking to Ryland about going to a movie for a few weeks, so this was a great opportunity. We picked out seats, got comfortable, and started enjoying our snacks. This week's movie was Clifford, the Big Red Dog. Reed sat in my lap, and Ryland stayed in his seat until about 10 minutes before the movie ended.

He decided it would be better to put the booster seat in the floor and stand on it. I tried explaining why he couldn't do that when the booster slipped and he fell. He didn't hurt himself, but he wanted to stand on it again. I told him no and the fit started. While trying to calm him, I felt an explosion in Reed's diaper. OK, time to go!
We will try again, but next week isn't a cartoon. We will come back for Megamind

Legoland

We headed to Legoland for play group today. It just opened, so this was our first visit. It took us about an hour to get in due to 6 buses of 3rd graders on a field trip. Crazy!

Once we finally were inside, we were amazed. Ryland thought this concrete truck was too neat. The tank on the back actually rotated like it was mixing. It was almost big enough for Ryland to ride inside.

There were several different areas to play with Legos. One fun area was the earthquake table. It had platforms for building the tallest skyscraper we could. After we finished building, we turned the dial to crank up the vibration. Our skyscraper didn't make it long before it crashed to the floor. We wondered around Legoland and found a Lego DFW. Obviously, the boys were impressed, because I couldn't get them to look at the camera.

Rangers Ballpark

I noticed a 4D movie theater inside, and I thought Ryland might enjoy a short movie. I wanted to see if he could sit and pay attention. We have been talking about going to a movie, so this was the perfect opportunity.

The next show was only 3 minutes away, so I parked the stroller in line. Things got ugly fast. Reed decided he was hungry, so he started crying. I started feeding him, and Ryland fell out on the floor screaming. He didn't want to wait in line and wanted to go back in the DFW room. The line starts moving forward, and I am in all out nuts mode. I am begging Ryland to get up and walk while pushing the huge double stroller while feeding Reed while trying to grab the diaper bag and camera. We grabbed some glasses and two seats on the end of the row just in case Ryland wasn't up for the movie. We settled into our seats when I smelled the poop. I lifted the burp cloth I was using to feed Reed, and I saw the poop seeping through his outfit. OK, now what was I to do. I can't leave Ryland in the theater while I go change Reed, and I can't take both of them out after making such a huge deal about the movie. I decided to give it a shot since the movie was only 15 minutes long. Once again Reed was a trooper. He sat in my lap and contently finished his bottle while Ryland and I watched the movie. It was such a neat experience. Ryland would reach out to grab things that appeared to come out into the audience. He absolutely loved it!

It was over quickly, so we headed to the restroom to clean up Reed. Ryland just continued to chat about the movie and Legos. We headed home, and I promised him we would come back soon. It was a cool experience that was worth all the drama, but before we could call the morning a wrap we had to make it out to the truck. IN THE POURING RAIN!
